Resources for preparing for CISSP

Books

In this blog, I have listed the books that I heavily used for preparation.

  • SYBEX Official Study Guide 9th edition. 5/5
  • CBK 5/5 To get the CBK language
  • All in one CISSP exam guide by Shaun Harris 5/5

Sybex official study guide

You may have to read this two to three times. In my experience, the first time reading gave clarity in a few domains. The second and third readings along with CBK and AIO gave full perspective. Many of the domains are related. You will understand that while reading the second round. Few portions I skipped while reading for the first/second time so covered them in final iterations.

5/5 for the coverage and its official book as well.

You also can register the book online to get a question bank.  More about that in my next blog

All in one - Shon Harris

8th edition is the latest book

When I was not so clear about a topic in Sybex, all I had to do was to rely on All In One.  The conversational style and mild humour made this book interesting to read.  Shaun Harris has a unique way to explain every topic. Her strong conviction to make us understand will make you feel the author is sitting next to you and teaching.  The diagrams are a plus.

Strongly recommend this book as well.  Don't get discouraged by the volume of the book.  You can read this faster than Sybex. 5/5  Amazon link

The Official (ISC)² CISSP CBK Reference – New!

You will get a 50% discount if you become an ISC2 member.

A must-read to get the CISSP language.

I started to read this book after two rounds of SYBEX.  The amount of confidence you will get after CBK is unmatched.
